Lagakos' Symposium
"Impact of Biostatistical Science - Advances in Research: AIDS, Cancer, Environment"
Ori Davidov
Ori Davidov is a Senior Lecturer of Statistics at the University of Haifa in Israel. He is currently on sabbatical leave at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences. Ori holds a doctorate in Biostatistics from Harvard University, a Masters in Statistics from Carnegie Mellon, and B.S.Med from Hadassah Medical School at the Hebrew University. The focus of his current research is on the development of inferential procedures for ordered data. The analysis of ordered data involves restricting, or constraining, some of the parameters of the model. Current projects include the development of non-parametric methodology for testing for the usual stochastic ordering in the multivariate multi-sample case. A very general family of distance tests is currently under study. Large sample theory for this family and optimality properties are being considered. Another interesting area of research is semi-parametric inference for ordered data using the density ratio model. The density ratio model generalizes the exponential family by allowing the baseline measure to be unspecified. This modelling strategy seems very promising. The theoretical analysis for the one way layout has been largely solved and he is working on extension to ANOVA and ANCOVA type settings as well as to multivariate problems. These developments will lead to methods which make few assumptions about the data but are easy to interpret, implement and use. This will allow the analysis of complex data sets which cannot be analyzed with current methods. This research is supported by the Israeli Science Foundation and the NIH. Several other large projects involving ordered, as well as non ordered data, are being studied. Past research interests include early detection programs, measurement error models. Ori has held various service and organizational positions within and outside of the University. He has headed the Biostatistics track within his home department and has been the graduate student advisor for several years. He has been the thesis advisor for several master and PhD level students. Ori has served as secretary and treasurer of the Eastern Mediterranean Region of the International Biometrics Society (IBS) and as the IBS's general secretary.
