"Impact of Biostatistical Science - Advances in Research: AIDS, Cancer, Environment"
David Schoenfeld David Schoenfeld is a Professor at the Harvard Medical School and a Professor in the Department of Biostatistics at the Harvard School of Public Health. He received his Ph.D. in 1974 from the University of Oregon. He has been on the Harvard Faculty since 1977. Dr. Schoenfeld developed the first omnibus goodness of fit test for the proportional hazards regression model and developed widely used graphical techniques for this model. He authored a popular web site for sample size (http://hedwig.mgh.harvard.edu/size.html) considerations for clinical trials. His research has involved diverse topics in clinical and laboratory studies. He is a fellow of the American Statistical Association. He founded the Biostatistics Center at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He directs the Clinical Coordinating Center for the ARDS Clinical Network, a national group doing clinical trials on Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome, and is the Group Statistician for the North East ALS consortium. He collaborates with diverse groups at Massachusetts General Hospital, including the Clinical Research Center, many of the units in the Endocrine division, the Transplant Program and the Burn Unit.
